About This Collage
On the night before a scheduled heart surgery, Stephen Sondheim’s mother wrote a letter to her son. She had it hand delivered. It read, “The only regret I have in life is giving you birth.”
When she died in 1992, her son did not attend her funeral.
This collage belongs to a series of works that celebrates the beauty, resilence, struggle, and triumph of the LGBTQ+ community.
